The impact of the iPads in the classroms and school is amazing. iPads provide portable, easy to use technology that effectively engages students in learning. The face of education is changing. Students now learn differently, which means that we need to instruct differently. Our students are digital natives. They expect to be able to use technology to create, explore, and engage daily in school. The iPad provides a means to do just this. With use of the iPads and other technology, I expect to see students more actively engaged in classroom instruction and connected to real-life situations. Professionally, I plan to use my iPad to help me organize various facets of being an administrator. For instance, I plan to use it to track teacher walk-throughs and observations in a more systematic manner. Today, I used the iPad to capture pictures and videos of the students during our first day of Catholic Schools Week. I then made an Animoto slideshow with these pictures and videos and e-mailed it to all of the parents. The iPad allowed me to showcase events that took place at school and share that with families the same day. Personally, I plan to use my iPad to stay organized, with my calendar and tasks applications. I also use it for books and games for my two children. The applications are endless and there are so many possiblities. It allows me to stay connected and to learn each day.
